At the end of the 2019 season, it appeared Houston Texans star linebacker Jadeveon Clowney was going to break the bank wherever he ended up in free agency. That is, until the Texans placed the franchise tag on him, which allowed Houston to keep his rights for one more year on a fully guaranteed contract. After a heated few weeks in which the Texans and Clowney’s agent argued over whether to tag him as an outside linebacker or defensive end, as being tagged as a defensive end guaranteed him more money, Clowney stated he wanted a new contract. Now, when an NFL player has been hit with the franchise tag, there is a window, that ends on July 15, which allows teams and players to negotiate a long-term deal. Otherwise, the player is forced to stay on the franchise tag for the year and cannot negotiate a new contract until they enter free agency.

I'm back! It's been a while, but we have another episode of the Sportsball Podcast ready for y'all! My ridiculously sleep deprived self covers the podcast itself, Simon's Rock sports, the NFL Hall of Fame game, and current NFL story lines around the league. We have bad takes, good takes, weird takes, and most importantly, we have Sportsball. Enjoy!
No one knows what Simon's Rock is or what "early college" means. That is why we are here to help! You can send this episode to any of the confused relatives who ask you when you are going to graduate high school at Thanksgiving. This way, I can explain it to them and you don't have to.*
*for the seventh time CNN gets you hooked, there’s no doubt about it. The televised introduction to the debate is something out of a sporting event— montage of headline-worthy chants set to make your blood boil. Watching each candidate step onto the stage is gladiatorial, what with the superficial formalities, almost misleading to what always follows: a political bloodbath, wrought with treachery, deception and each candidate nauseating self-promotion.
When one first arrives at Simon’s Rock, there will most likely be certain things that confuse, baffle, or perhaps even utterly confound them. The campus exists in something of an alternate dimension, as if it is subject to different rules than those of the outside world. It even has a unique culture of its own, unusual among many college campuses, for better or for worse. Therefore, here is a briefing on the core oddities and eccentricities of the Simon’s Rock environment—some inside jokes, odd trends, and even outright bizarre on-goings:
