Many have recently received an utterly confounding email recently detailing the “Housing Lottery & Selection 2019-2020 Academic Year”. While these emails are oftentimes immensely confusing, dense, and occasionally borderline incomprehensible, do not fear, for here is a summarized translation of what all of this means from a certified veteran of the Housing Lottery process:
For many Simon’s Rockers, the Spring Formal acts as their only chance to attend a prom or school dance—although, it is unlike any other high school formals. Instead of uncomfortable dancing and limos, the formal night at Simon’s Rock was more about dressing up and having a memorable night with friends, whether that means parading around Crosby wearing an elegant dress or suit, having a night-in, watching movies on your friend’s computer, or dancing at the Egremont Country Club under a disco and flashing lights. There was a way for everyone to celebrate this special night. Excitement and anticipation could be felt in the air.
*SPOILER ALERT*
This past weekend, April 14th, was the season premiere of one of the most iconic, well-known shows of our generation. You probably already know this, considering how difficult it is to avoid all of the talk about Game of Throne’s last season. The next episode airs tomorrow, April 21st, but before then let's talk about the first episode.
Two weeks ago, a motivated group of Rockers known as “SLIMT,” or “The Student-Lead Independent Musical Theater group,” put on their first show: Be More Chill, written by Ned Vizzini and Joe Tracz with lyricist/composer Joe Iconis.
At Simon’s Rock, there are two ways of obtaining an evening meal: Dining Hall and Snack Bar, or as it is more elegantly called, the Rock Cafe. The former typically has a variety of options ranging from vegan to meat lovers, and the latter is for fast food aficionados, or those unlucky enough to miss proper dinner elsewhere. In either case, meals are available with the universal Simon’s Rock currency of equivalencies: digital meal tickets that can be redeemed using one’s ID. These equivalencies, however, are hardly equivalent.
