WEEKLY CAD WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY PRESIDENT’S AGENDA; BRAVELY SUPPORTS OXFORD COMMA

Folks, we are living in hard times.

Those in charge now believe that they can impose their ideologies on the rest of us, and their efforts to do so only serve to anger those affected. Political disagreements are turning into violent confrontations, as in the case of a protestor who was assaulted for daring to support our nation’s founding principles: “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”.

Therefore, today, the Cad would like to put itself on record as part of the resistance. That’s right – despite constant attacks on the media, academia, and free speech, we will bravely fight to the death for the Oxford comma. We mean real fighting: while Fox News spends yet another hour covering senators’ treatment at restaurants, we will support the rights of journalists and the free media everywhere, which are guaranteed by the grammatical clarity of the Oxford Comma.

Grammar is more important than ever: an anonymous and credible source has reported to the Cad that the Trump administration may move to tighten restrictions on the AP style guide. Regardless of the legal implications, we have already received harassment for the ubiquitous list-terminating comma – so we hope this open letter sends a message: we aren’t afraid, and we won’t be afraid.
