Were you aware that The Cad is named after the 2001 blockbuster classic Cats and Dogs?
On one glorious Summer afternoon in 2003, the original co-founders of the Cad, Rilbert and Nullivan, settled down to watch one of their favorite movies of all time, Cats and Dogs. During the momentous viewing of their favorite film, Nullivan was struck with an idea. Deeply inspired by a quote from the villain of the cinematic classic, Mr. Tinkles, Nullivan was pushed to do something wondrous with his life. When he heard Mr. Tinkles say, “Like a powerful, dark storm, I will make my presence known to the world. Like a seeping mist, I will creep into the dogs' center of power, and make them quake in fear at the very mention of my name,” Nullivan knew he had found his life’s calling: to become an evil villain.

Rilbert, who was concerned deeply after hearing this plan, offered a separate solution: that they spend their time on something a little different. However, Nullivan was not satisfied with this response. He wanted nothing more in life than to truly become Mr. Tinkles, so Rilbert began a different approach to steer Nullivan from his evil tendencies. Rilbert reminded Nullivan how Mr. Tinkles would have been nothing without a team of fearing constituents, and thus it would be most effective for them to start an institution of their own.

Then, The Weekly Cad was born.
