Earlier this week, I got the incredible opportunity to meet with and interview Charlie the dog and his wonderful owner Zach Poling. Charlie is a good working boy, serving as an emotional support animal for Zach. One solid Unit.
Lexi: What is Charlie’s favorite treat?
Zach: “He loves fruit juice, mainly Mott’s Apple Juice for some reason…”
L: Does he know any special tricks?
Z: Well besides sit, Charlie knows a trick called ‘kisses’- which is pretty self explanatory, he gives you kisses and it’s amazing. He can also hold three tennis balls in his mouth at once! (pictured above).
L: How does Charlie feel about the other dogs on campus?
Z: While Charlie has only met Chief and Pebbles, that doesn’t mean that his experience with the two haven’t been eventful. He didn’t quite get off on the right paw with Chief when they first met, so it’s safe to say that they are rivals. As for Pebbles, there seems to be a budding friendship underway.
L: Does Charlie have a favorite spot on campus?
Z: Charlie loves the woods, it’s one of the few places he can run around without a leash. He loves running through all other ferns and getting dirty in the mud.
L: What does Charlie think about snow?
Z: Although Charlie doesn’t get to see a lot of snow at home, he loves it when he gets to. He’s looking forward to this winter!
L: Does Charlie like to swim?
Z: Charlie loves swimming at a creek at home. He enjoys swimming at Lake Mansfield as well.
L: Why do you think Charlie deserved the Dog of the Month award?
Z: “Just look at that face, that man has a thousand-Watt smile, and he wears bandanas!”
L: Does Charlie have any costume plans for Halloween?
Z: As of now, Charlie does not have any planned costumes. There’s the possibility of him coordinating with Zach’s Pacific Rim theme, however it is still up in the air. Have an idea for a costume? Tell us below in the comments!
